Bentley Keys Are Bold, Adventuresome and Uncompromising

With Bentley's 100th anniversary looming next year, the Mulliner division is celebrating its founder with a special edition Mulsanne. It pays homage to the company's founder, W.O. Bentley contains a piece from one of his automobiles.

The special model which is available on either a regular or long-wheelbase Mulsanne or Mulsanne Speed was influenced by the 1930 8 Litre Bentley that W.O. used as his personal car. Its influence can be felt throughout the cabin as well as a Mulliner illuminated cocktail cabinet that has an opening window that shows a slice of the original crankshaft of the 8 Litre displayed inside.

Other highlights include a chrome-colored application that runs backwards along the side of the car with an air vent in the shape of a B which incorporates W.O. The signature of the owner front grille designed on the 1930s-appropriate Onyx color of the limited edition, and an optional chrome-colored application that wraps around the lower spoilers to the left and right. The front grille is unique, featuring the chrome-colored shell instead of the normal body-color mesh that is found on the standard Mulsanne and including the Flying B logo as well.

A keybox engraved with the Bentley wings can hold two bently keys and features black flock lining, while individual key pouches are also available to complement or contrast with the key box. The commemorative set includes an 1:18 scale model as well as an aircraft-like "B" paperweight. It also includes a printed booklet featuring never-before seen images of the original Bentley 8 Litre.

"We wanted the knurling's appearance to be as consistent and elegant as we could," says Van Braekel. "It was also important to ensure the fob had an identifiable size and shape."

Bentley's signature diamond diamond quilting is applied to the entire cabin using almost 400,000 stitches. The lighting of the mood can be adjusted for different moods.

Standard exteriors include illuminated treadplates, brushed silver clocks, and new 22in wheels with self-leveling bentley key shell logos. Customers can also have a custom Bentley logo laser-etched on the rear fixing as a tribute to the 1930 8 Litre W.O. Edition that inspired the car.
