WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade items the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which will show an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level upgrade (Read A lot more) level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an Best item upgrade upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade items process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
