UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. When replacing them, it is important that the new handles conform to the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.

All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or old multi-point aluminium door handle lock mechanism. These handle levers are also sprung, solving the problem of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is often called the handle centre or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect of matching up the appropriate handles.

Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is vital. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For example, external doors require a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be properly measured to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. It is important to not have a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This can to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.

There are also cylinders constructed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located within the base plate of the Sliding patio door handle replacement (historydb.date) handle.
