French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door fridges combine form and function. They feature stylish double doors that show an enormous fridge on top, and a freezer drawer beneath. Special features like through-the-door dispensers, high-end ice machines and adjustable flex drawers make them stand out from the crowd.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right one. We looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other factors.

GE Profile smallest counter depth french door refrigerator Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name implies that GE's Profile series is targeted at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies in their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a sophisticated water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. The refrigerator is expensive and I expected more.

This fridge is a great choice, despite the blip. It has a large freezer compartment that is not common for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also holds a lot of frozen food compared to other models.

Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a fridge with a French door at this price. It also has an adequate-sized icemaker in the left-hand door, although it's not the biggest I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a custom storage setup for what is french door fridge you want to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is stylish, too. Its LED lighting is a nice addition and the storage bins come with an additional shelf that can fold down to allow you to store tall items. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls so that you can set them to Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and shut, but I found the plastic's textured coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a full suite of features you'd expect from a refrigerator at this price, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in the world, and has a ton of customization options. It also sends you notifications when doors are left open, when your fridge or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill which is a feature available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allow users to set the number of cups they would like to disperse. The fridge displays a countdown timer to show you how much water is left however it's not as effective as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

It is designed to look like a seamless piece of your kitchen Bosch's French door refrigerator is an eye-catching piece. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that helps keep vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors to ensure the best preservation of food. The ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and produces the shape of a pyramid using only water. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or kitchenette that needs a built-in appearance and top-of-the best food preservation.

This refrigerator was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0° Fahrenheit and never changed by more than a fraction, this is crucial to prevent freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also did well. It reached the initial temperature set within an hour and remained at that temperature throughout our testing.

Bosch is a household name known for its high-end appliances. Therefore, it's no surprise that Bosch's counter depth fridge Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. This app lets you monitor and control your fridge remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is expensive, but it offers excellent features and functionality for the cost.

It is important to know the limitations of your fridge. It is possible to be inventive with tall items since the fridge has a limited shelf space. Additionally the shelves aren't sprillproof and can be easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they must be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who need a lot of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door and two rows of shelves that capture spills, and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right side can be folded down to make space for tall items. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

The refrigerator comes with an ice maker making it easy to transfer the frozen ice whenever you need it. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, as well, such as sliding drawers to help you better organize the placement of items. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.

Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a great way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't improve the performance of the fridge. The fridge took a bit longer to chill food and defrost it than some others we test. This could be due to the greater capacity.

The doors are another problem with this fridge. They have sunken handles at the front, which allows shorter people to easily open them from the bottom, however they're not easy for taller people to steer closed without slamming them. It would have been better if they had a front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those looking to combine the aesthetics of a french door american style fridge freezer-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models and is able to cool evenly. It's also less expensive than the top counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth french style fridge freezer plumbed Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice if you want a French-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a simple fridge which may not be as attractive as some of its competitors, but it still has enough features to make a an excellent choice. Its most notable characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large ice maker as well as a water dispenser.

Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can keep food items that need extra attention. You can alter this feature by using an adjustable slider that is located just on the outside of the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my tests, the refrigerator's temperatures were fairly consistent across all areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator didn't vary significantly from 38 degrees. That's a good performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also combine this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise readings of your fridge's temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
