UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will wear out and need to be changed. It is essential to match the dimensions of the window handles replacement you have previously replaced when replacing them.

The top screw position, the lever and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements that you need to verify. Use the size guide to aid you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a contemporary door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is available in a wide range of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc chrome door handles functions differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by a single spindle or by two spindles inline or offset. They are commonly utilized on UPVC doors with double glazed door handle glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in various finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are handed which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on upvc door handle and other types of doors. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock body, permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is contingent on how your door and handle are utilized. External doors, for example, should be fitted with cylinders with greater security and internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features which can enhance security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable measure it using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is important that it's not too long.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This will help to prevent attacks and ensure your doors are secure.

There are cylinders constructed to resist snapping. This is a more frequent kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is targeted using a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after usage. The handles were previously equipped with no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was removed. This component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the backplates of door handles of many kinds of uPVC doors. They are sold as one unit. They feature a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
